THROUGH A GLASS, DARKLY
Changing Women, Changing Worlds Conference
Saturday, 29th March 2003

“For now we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part;
but then shall I know even as also I am known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12

Daffodils unclosing
We started the day with tight buds
green stalks straight as spears
with a poison yellow tip
we sat round tables in groups
each holding a secret tight closed
but here is water, and glass stones
gold and blue and iridescent
holding up the clenched stems
and here is a space to look, and talk
and here are open eyes
and laughter
maybe by evening
one or two petals will unfold
loosing on the air a brave bright blazing trumpet
Veronica Zundel

Conference participants said:
“I came with a certain reluctance – ‘women’s events’ are not my scene! However, I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot.”

“An opportunity to reflect about important issues, in a safe environment where diversity is respected and other viewpoints accepted, if not agreed with.”

“I liked the way we sat round tables in groups – promoted contact with new people. Good opportunity to meet and discuss issues with lots of people.”

“Really wonderful day! Thoroughly enjoyed the conversations, food, information and venue. I would appreciate even more focused days looking at church authority and venues/opportunities for women seeking more leadership roles.”
