ECONI has become a charitable trust.
After six years which have seen the initiation of a wide range of projects the Steering Group of ECONI came to the conviction that the time was right to establish a more formal structure and employ full-time staff in order to continue the work.
While this involves a serious commitment, it is also an act of faith. Believing that the biblical principles highlighted in For God and His Glory Alone are still relevant to the situation in Northern Ireland, the Steering Group hopes the new structure will enable the group to make those principles known and to challenge and encourage evangelical Christians in Northern Ireland.
This latest development was marked at a reception held in City of Belfast YMCA on 30 June 1994. 75 people met to dedicate ECONI's future to God and to commit David Porter to God in his new role as full time Development Officer. The ministry of ECONI was presented and Rev ken Newell outlined his vision for the future of ECONI.
Given recent developments seems more significant than many of us felt powerless in the face of violence, we have been given an opportunity to shape the kind of society in which we live.
ECONI believes that God's people can and should play an important and constructive role in building this new society as makers of peace and bringers of healing.
